Fresh Friday - September 9th, 2022

In avoidance of using this as a space to complain about how many or what book I am reading this week, let me tell you some fun music facts.

Fun fact, did you know that if you plot out the synth notes from Frank Ocean's "Pyramids," it, in fact, forms "pyramids" in music notation? What's that? "Shut up Dane?" Will do.

Happy Friday, folks -- let's kick off the weekend right with some new music! Hoo-ray!

Rosalía - MOTOMAMI+ (Deluxe):

As if one of the best albums of the year couldn't get better, Rosalía has given us a deluxe version of MOTOMAMI, complete with new songs, live versions, and alternative track-listing. WOW.

Tyler Childers "Angel Band (Jubilee/Hallelujah versions)":

What's better than one new Tyler Childers album? How about three in one! Sort of -- Tyler has announced Can I Take My Hounds To Heaven, out at the end of September, and featuring a tracklist of eight songs repeated three times.

He's very ambitious with this project; each repetition of the album is through a new sonic lens. See if you can spot the differences above...

Also, amazing that Childers asked if the royal corgis would be heading to heaven with the queen... as if she's going to heaven.

Ari Lennox - age/sex/location:

Last week, we were lucky to get Ari's EP, Away Message, now the full album is here! This is the only queen I want to hear about today.

Blood Orange - "Jesus Freak Lighter":

He's back! Next week, Dev Hynes is releasing a four-track EP, and this song is the single.

Bryson Tiller - "Outside":

Louisville peeps, rejoice, because it's not Jack Harlow, it's a better rapper! Just playing. I don't have the energy to be shady.

John Legend - LEGEND:

This is a pretty nice offering for the late career crooner, although the features carry him at times.

Sudan Archives - Natural Brown Prom Queen:

I love this artist. What an amazing and truly unique sound meshed with impressive subject and purpose.

DRAM - "WHAM":

This man confuses me, and not because his music is bad (it's good), it's because he's now gone through two (2) name changes. Way to confuse the fuck out of your fans and obliterate your popularity. But what do I know.

Wednesday - "Bull Believer":

This may not be the best intro for those unfamiliar with Wednesday, but holy shit this is a fucking rocker (pardon my language). Go bang ya head to the screaming at the end and release some endorphins.

Jay-Z - "HOV DID":

Maybe the weirdest offering today, this isn't a song. This is an eleven-minute breakdown of Jay-Z's four-minute verse off DJ Khaled's song, "GOD DID" from last week. It's a very thorough analysis (Cole Cuchna style), and I highly recommend to those doubting the poetics of Jay's delivery.

A$AP Rocky - "OUR DE$TINY (feat. Playboi Carti)":

This song is amazing, but we're never getting this Rocky album. Dear lord please let him drop before he goes to jail for being a dumbass. Also, this is an Instagram exclusive...?
