Friday Roundup (of News & Thoughts & Such) - July 15th, 2022 Edition

A wise man once told me there are only 3 certainties in life: death, taxes, and “the Friday Roundup of News and Thoughts and Such does not write itself.” Yet, here we are. Another Thursday night and the article has not miraculously sprung forth onto my computer screen, allowing me to slap on my name while getting those sweet, sweet click dollars (Dane pays us on a similar scale to Spotify’s streams, $0.0033 per click). I have been on staycation this week, day drinking and reading Spider-Man comics and have done literally no news looking-at. So we’re all going to learn together. 

Before we get started, I missed two stories last week and they are somehow both Stranger Things related. 

1. Metallica tries to have its Kate Bush moment:

 

“Master of Puppets” was used in the show, leading the band to release a statement: “It’s an incredible honor to be part of Eddie’s journey and to once again be keeping company with all of the other amazing artists featured on the show.” The song has since entered the Billboard charts.

2. Doja Cat is feuding with a literal child:

Doja Cat sent some messages to Noah Schnapp, the aforementioned literal child, professing her thirst for Joseph Quinn, the aforementioned Eddie (I don’t watch this show). Then the literal child posted the messages and Doja Cat thinks he’s a snake. The end. 

As for this week, it’s another ~boring week~

1. Three charged with stealing handwritten Eagles lyrics:

The trio, which includes the curator of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, stole handwritten lyrics for multiple Eagles songs. There’s a lot of bands you could steal from. Why not pick a better one?

2. Travis Barker:

 Dude is back on stage. Wonderful to hear.

3. Pantera “reunites”

Pantera is touring for the first time in 2 decades. Never mind the fact that half of them were murdered on stage in 2004. And never mind that Phil Anselmo is an “accused” white supremacist.

4. Heardle:

Purchased by Spotify. I like Heardle. It’s fun.
