Hello, and welcome once again to a little thing we like to call, "Friday". "They" release new music every "Friday", did you know that? Here's some of what "we're" listening to:
The 1975 - "Part of the Band":
The boys are back in town, or whatever. Alt-pop favorites are following up their 2020 Notes on a Conditional Form album, with an even more pretentious-sounding album, Being Funny in a Foreign Language. It's out this fall!
Westside Gunn - PEACE, "FLY" GOD:
Buffalo sweetheart and wrestling fanatic Westside Gunn, a.k.a. Flygod, has been teasing his new album Michelle Records since January. This is not that album, but it is pretty great. Featuring new Madlib beats!
Banks - Serpentina:
Banks has some crazy vibe to her music, and this album is all of that vibe times infinity. Nutty!
Killer Mike - "RUN (feat. Dave Chappelle and Young Thug)":
We waited a decade for THIS? Some "anti-woke" bullshit intro via Dave Chappelle and a half-assed verse from Mike? He's just been downhill at a steady pace since he cried on national TV about people smashing up his businesses in June 2020, hasn't he? Anyway, free Thugger!
Julien Baker - "Guthrie":
One third of the band, Boygenius, and individually genius in her own right, Julien Baker has announced a whole EP of b-sides. Yes, please!
Alvvays - "Pharmacist":
First new music since 2017, this band is often confusing to me. Are they good? Are they not? I like this song, though!
Brent Faiyaz - WASTELAND:
Although not completely filling the hole Frank Ocean has left in my life (vocal-wise, not content), Brent does at least make it smaller 🥲 Also, this was supposed to come out on July 28th? Surprise!
Wet - Pink Room:
I love this band so much. I think this is an EP, but they keep calling it an "album", so whatever. Wet!
