I'm pulling double duty today -- here's a nice collection of new releases from today you should give a listen (or avoid):
Calvin Harris - "Potion (feat. Dua Lipa & Young Thug)":
A couple weeks ago, a billboard popped up advertising Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2, the sequel to Calvin Harris' incredible 2017 collection of funky-summer jams. Here's the first single, which is a little underwhelming, but enjoyable nonetheless.
UMI - Forest in the City:
One of our albums to watch in 2022, UMI has released her second full collection of music. Light some incense and meditate along to this beautiful work.
Chance the Rapper - "A Bar About A Bar":
I have listened to this song a lot today, watched the video, looked at the piece of art. I can't decide if I really hate it or really enjoy it. I feel like Chance ruined his chance to really rap over this incredible instrumental. He's always letting me down.
M.I.A. - "The One":
M.I.A. of "Paper Planes" fame is back with new music, and apparently is a born again Christian, too. The song is alright.
Eminem - The Eminem Show (20th Anniversary Edition):
Feel old yet?
Rico Nasty - "Intrusive":
Rico has incredible star potential, this song is a lot of fun. But the video is kinda trying too hard to not try too hard. Does that make sense?
Conway the Machine & Trillmatic - Organized Grime 2:
One of the best rappers on the scene silently released this gem over Bandcamp last night. It's a little unsure when this was recorded, possibly in 2019, but it's undeniably grimy.
