Fresh Friday: April 8th, 2022

It's hard to believe that just this time last year, Fridays were mostly empty without major releases. Now, it seems like the entire music industry is trying to make up for lost time, and it's a star-studded cast of artists each week.

So, we're bringing back the occasional "Fresh Friday" where we take a look at notable singles, albums, and music video releases of the week! Let's kick it off:

Jack Harlow - "First Class"

It's April, but Jack Harlow might have dropped the first contender for "Song of the Summer". This, the second single from his upcoming sophomore album set for release in early May, boldy goes where no song has before -- sampling "Glamorous" by Fergie! An A+ bop.

Wet Leg - Wet Leg

A lot of people hate this band, and I confess, I am still making my mind up about them. But irregardless of your feelings towards them, you can't deny their ability to make a name. And for that reason alone, their self-titled debut album is worth a listen.

Father John Misty - Chlöe and the Next 20th Century

The incredible Josh Tillman was starting to feel a little monotonous after I Love You, Honeybear and Pure Comedy, but each release since then has felt like a drastic reintroduction to what makes the artist so unique and complicated. Chlöe is a stark departure from his traditional sound, but on-brand, nonetheless.

Maggie Rogers - "That's Where I Am"

Maggie took some time off from music, particularly during the pandemic, releasing a compilation of demos last year, but now has promised her follow up to her incredible debut album. Hear the first single now!

Pusha T - "Neck & Wrist (feat. Pharrell & Jay-Z)"

The G.O.O.D. Music president is back at it, featuring his second single from his upcoming album, IT'S ALMOST DRY. No release day yet, but the Jay-Z verse on this song keeps plenty of rappers in check.

Vince Staples - Ramona Park Broke My Heart

This is Vince's longest project since Summertime '06, at a full 42 minutes, and the artist goes pop and goes home. There's a lot more room for radio play in the very cohesive, yet funky sound of his latest effort.

Orville Peck - Bronco

The mysterious sad-boi cowboy is back at it after a huge debut album. Bronco has a lot to live up to, and we're here to say it pays out.

Action Bronson - "Subzero"

This man seems like a one-trick pony to the uninitiated, but "Subzero" captures everything great about Bronson -- humor, hard bars, and a wacky music video. Give it a watch.

Doechii - "Crazy"

If you're unfamiliar with the new TDE signee, you're not alone. But Doechii has taken a lot of rap fans by storm with a unique delivery and clever bars. It's not a replacement for the soon-departing Kendrick, but Doechii promises a successful future for the label.
